EU PVSEC Industry Summit: building PV manufacturing capability through industrial alliances
14 September 2026 · EU PVSEC Industry Summit
Verónica Bermúdez Benito co-moderated the Industry Summit discussion on rebuilding PV manufacturing through strategic industrial alliances with Radovan Kopecek. She also contributes to the EU PVSEC Industry Summit Advisory Board.
Assess the capability an alliance creates
Technology leadership does not by itself establish manufacturing capability. A credible industrial pathway needs process learning, equipment integration, yield improvement, quality systems and the operational knowledge required to sustain production.
An alliance can be assessed through concrete questions: which capabilities will be transferred, how will the receiving team demonstrate them, and what responsibilities remain with equipment suppliers, technology providers or other partners? Announced capacity provides little information about these interfaces.
Connect the agreement to industrial milestones
For a manufacturing programme, useful milestones should make evidence visible: repeatability across lots, performance at the intended throughput, defect detection, qualification and the resources needed to resolve deviations. Their relevance depends on the product, process and industrial stage.
BERBETIN supports this analysis by connecting technology choices with manufacturing evidence, industrialisation plans and the conditions that should inform the next commitment.
